Seattle strikes again by spawning a great catchy pop-punk band called Tacocat. Formed in 2007, they focus their songs around feminism and politicial themes. Their lyrics may be critical, but that doesn’t make their music any less cheery. It might not be so easy combining cricital songs with sheer optimism and energy, but Tacocat never misses the mark. ‘This Mess Is a Place’, released on Sub Pop, is their fourth and latest studio effort, and a very pleasant and diverse listen.
