With its glacial tempi, extremely high volume, repetitive riffs and ultra dark lyrics, doom – a subgenre of heavy metal – is the musical equivalent of ‘wading through thick, black treacle’. The Doom Doc focuses on the small, close-knit doom scene in northern English steel town Sheffield using interviews with Bill Ward (Black Sabbath) as well as members of Conan, Crowbar and Primitive Man. Fans and musicians seeking visceral experiences meet in independent venues, sweaty pubs and cellars.

After the movie there will be a concert in VERA with two bands: Wolvon from Groningen and Bonne Aparte from Rotterdam. Free entrance when you show your IFFR ticket.
