DIY Fest is coming to Groningen and trust me, it’s going to be something else. With Faze, Assistert Sjølmord, Klonns, Contra and plenty more bands to shout about, I’m seriously looking forward to this one. Even better, there’s a proper DIY Fest pre-party in the Kelderbar. We’re kicking things off with Ideal Victim from Porto. Drawing influence from Discharge, Bikini Kill, The Cramps, plus what feels like a forgotten chorus pedal that’s permanently switched on, it’s ridiculously infectious. And it comes with one big, unapologetic fuck you to the patriarchy.

Traumatizer is stopping by again as well. Their last show was an absolute blast, and Cold Case is quickly becoming one of my favorite Dutch hardcore tracks. Nuclear War Machine is a killer EP too, and as I’m writing this, Dead End is also climbing the ranks as one of my favorite Dutch hardcore songs. For fans of D-beat and seriously thick riffs.

And as the cherry on top, or the nutmeg on the green beans, Burning Dixi is joining the party once more. The beloved local rascals are playing the basement for the third time, perfect timing since they’ve got a brand-new release out. Verbal Outburst carries on right where Collectief Misschien Net Achttien left off. Punchy hardcore riffs with flashes of garage grit. Packed with bangers like Nazi’s Slaan, Hurry and Wie Zwijgt Stemt Toe, this is going to be a great show. Be there, all of you. | Robert
