Synthesizer postpunk and sample indie-dub
For more than a decade, The Homesick have carved out a singular place within the Dutch alternative underground, constantly reshaping their sound while retaining a distinctive identity. The Dokkum trio move effortlessly between post-punk, new wave, art rock and experimental pop, blending sharp songwriting with a taste for the unexpected. From the baroque post-punk explorations of The Big Exercise to the adventurous, synth-led textures of their self-titled 2023 album, reinvention remains central to their appeal. Drawing inspiration from Yellow Magic Orchestra, disco, and classic new wave, their music pairs restless energy with playful innovation. Their new album channels these influences into a muscular, pulse-driven collection of inventive and irresistibly fun songs.
London-based artist Jim Osman makes music under the name Rhizocorp, serving up a twisted mix of mutant disco, minimal wave, noise, krautrock and proto-house. Think post-cyberpunk grooves built on gritty post-punk basslines, dusty rhythms and warped analogue sounds, with alien vocal fragments cutting through the mix. Live, Rhizocorp takes things even further, throwing cassette manipulation, shortwave radio, noise generators and dub sirens into the equation. Weird, hypnotic and made to move to.
