Black Marble is the project of Chris Stewart, blending cold wave, minimal synth, post-punk and synthpop into a melancholic, melodic sound. Inspired by early synth pioneers, Stewart combines dark electronics, hypnotic rhythms and detached vocals with unexpected arrangements and subtle pop influences. He writes, records and performs everything himself, exploring the tension between urban isolation and human connection. On his album Life in Small Spaces, he pairs shimmering synths and melodic basslines with introspective lyrics about self-deception, societal pressure and the search for freedom.
