On June 21, Zienema, together with the culture committee of G.H.D. Ubbo Emmius, will organise for the second time this year a movie night. After Hiroshima mon amour, All Quiet On The Western Front will now be screened.The film is from 1930 and is directed by Lewis Milestone.The American war film is based on the 1929 novel of the same name by German author Erich Maria Remarque.

The film follows a group of German schoolboys who are persuaded by their teacher to enlist at the start of the First World War. The story is fully told through the experiences of the young German recruits and sheds light on the tragedy of war through the eyes of individuals.The film won several awards, including an Academy Award for “Best Director” and “Best Picture”.
