Los Angeles duo No Age played in their early days with noisepunkers Lightning Bolt and White Circle Crime Club in VERA back in 2008. No Age will return to VERA after almost 15 years with their sixth proper studio full-length ‘People Helping People’ which they released on Drag City in 2022.

‘People Helping People’ finds their disparate desires operating in perfect sync; prolegomenic weirdness fused immaculately to classic rock propulsion, transforming the energy pouring out from their hands and feet with electronics. They update the spirit of early independent punk and hardcore by washing their spiky, uptempo songs in textural ambient noise.

This is the sound of ‘People Helping People’: No Age, deep in the lab, scraping available nuclii together to see what new compound they find next. Erasing the starting points, reordering the pieces and beginning anew. It’s an everyday mindset — and as the first No Age album recorded entirely by No Age, ‘People Helping People’ is a broadcast of entirely lived-in proportions.

Tonight’s support act, Dorpsstraat 3, balances between post-punk and synthwave, but draws inspiration from multiple musical genres that come from very different places both geographically and in time. They bring these influences together as if they’ve always belonged together.
