Canadian Daniel Romano played in VERA in 2014 during the TakeRoot festival with a howling pedal-steel guitar, songs about binge drinking, hatred, loyalty and betrayal in a honky-tonk country shell. This shell was later removed, as this musical chameleon surprises again and again. In 2018 he could be seen in the club, this time with powerpop band Ancient Shapes.
Even though 2020 was a weird year for all of us, Daniel Romano released a whopping amount of three solo-records, in addition to a punk-album with Spider Bite of which Romano is part. Even with all this, time seems to be on his hands, as three albums have been released with The Outfit. The most recent is ‘How Ill Thy World Is Ordered’, in March the live album ‘Okay Wow’, and in addition to that, a Dylan tribute album.
On ‘How Ill Thy World is Ordered’ delightful Beatlesque, band-like songs can be heard. As a solo-artist Romano explores country music, this collective honours Americana in a truly immense way.
Support act of the evening is Carson McHone, an American singer-songwriter and musician from Austin, Texas. Her new album was released at the beginning of 2022, and is the succesor of her previous album “Carousel”, which is proclaimed by Rolling Stone as one of the best Country albums of 2018.
