Songwriter Evan Uschenko believes that the newest album of GHOSTWOMAN is the first album that “finally captures the true nature of the band.”. Sonically the album holds itself together within a warm analogue soundworld, but with vocals drenched in reverb the meaning is often suggestive rather than explicit. The guitars are heavier and the vocals are less easily discernible.
There is a confidence and assurance that feels built upon their 2022 debut. There is a darker, denser feel compared to previous releases, but the sound and the vibe of this album is more similar to what the project was supposed to be from the beginning, finally realising GHOSTWOMAN’s creative vision.
Support Slumberland unleashes his obscure, hypnotic krautrock and postpunk coloured with distorted exotica, upon us ever since 2013. His tactile sound is generated by a battery of sewing machines, film projectors and other dismantled, mechanical objects. Expect rattling drones of motoric ‘bagpipes’ grinding, accompanied by compelling, melodic & minimal compositions and complete stillness.
