Film enthusiasts in the Netherlands are in for a treat as WORM (Rotterdam) in collaboration with VERA Zienema (Groningen) and Filmhuis Cavia (Amsterdam) present a partial retrospective of films by the acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Ito. The program will feature a curated selection of Ito’s most iconic works, showcasing his unique approach to experimental filmmaking; a  rare opportunity to experience his films on the big screen.

Born in 1956, Takashi Ito is a visionary artist who has made a significant impact on the experimental film scene. His films are known for their unconventional techniques, hypnotic visuals, and thought-provoking themes. Ito’s work has been showcased in major film festivals around the world, and his influence can be seen in the works of many contemporary filmmakers alike.

The screening will offer audiences the opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of Ito’s artistic output. The program will include some of his best known works, such as “Spacy,” and “Thunder,” most projected on their original format, 16mm. Each film is a masterpiece in its own right, showcasing Ito’s unique sensibilities and his mastery of the medium.

The program will be introduced by visual artist, filmmaker and film programmer Bernardo Zanotta whose widely acclaimed short film Insieme Insieme is currently touring the festival circuit.
