Gloomy indierock bangers
After a performance at Eurosonic 2023, Kids With Buns is returning to Groningen for a show in VERA with their new album! Debutalbum Out of Place has become an openhearted coming-of-age album about teen angst and the struggles you face when you’re growing up into adulthood in a world often still too homophobic. Although you don’t have to be queer to relate to the album, as the band also sings about expectations from people around you, how bullying affects you in the long run and how much a breakup between friends can hurt.
Kids With Buns found inspiration for Out of Place in the music of Nick Drake, the guitar style of Ben Howard and the independent attitude of Girl In Red. This inspiration merges into intimate indierock driven by melodious guitar riffs and the unique, deep voice of singer-guitarist Marie Van Uytvanck, which results in sad bangers to dance to during a mental breakdown in the bathroom.
The support of tonight will be Iskander Moon. The 23-year-old Belgian artist already has an extensive musical journey despite his young age. Over the past two years Iskander Moon has been actively involved as a producer and songwriter for artists such as Mooneye ( who will perform VERA Mainstage March 23rd).
During these two years he has also been making strides as a solo artist under his alter-ego Iskander Moon as which he aims to deliver simple, heartfelt pop songs with compelling lyrics, sung from behind his ivory keys. Think Bon Iver, James Bay, and Tom Odell.
