After a short LION ROCK sleep we continue our shows in the VERA Club with for the first edition, TRISTAN PALMER

TRISTAN PALMER aka TRISTON or TRISTAN PALMA (born 1962, Waltham Park, Kingston, Jamaica) is a reggae singer/deejay active since the mid-1970s. PALMER grew up in the Waltham Park area of Kingston, and decided from an early age that he wanted to be a singer. He began by singing to the accompaniment of Soul Syndicate guitarist Tony Chin. His first recording was "Love Is A Message" for producer Bunny Lee when he was eight years old, which was followed by "A-Class Girl" for the Black Solidarity label, which was co-run by Palmer and Ossie Thomas. He came to the attention of producar/deejay Jah Thomas, who began a substantial association with PALMER with the track "Entertainment", when PALMER was aged around 14.  "Entertainment" was a big Jamaican hit and he enjoyed further successes with "Water Bubbling", "Spliff Tail", "Raving", and "Run Around Woman". He made a major breakthrough with his performance in 1979 at the General Penitentiary Memorial Concert for Claudie Massop, which also featured Bob Marley. He also worked with Linval Thompson, who produced his Joker Lover and Settle Down Girl albums, and later George Phang, Tony Robinson, Sugar Minott, Bunny Gemini, and Castro Brown. At one point in the early 1980s, TIRSTAN had nine songs in Jamaica's Top 40. TRISTAN became a popular artist in the "singjay" style in the early 1980s.

In the mid-1980s, PALMER became involved in the famine-relief charity project Music is Life, along with Freddie McGregor,, Mutabaruka, Gregory Isaacs, Third World, Edi Fitzroy, and Steel Pulse, contributing to the charity single "Land of Africa". His popularity and recordings (over 25 Albums and a lot of 45's) continued through the 1980s, and in the 1990s he recorded the Three Against War song and album with Dennis Brown and Beenie Man.PALMER has worked as a producer himself, working with artists such as Phillip Frazer, Josie Wales, and Robert Ffrench, and has provided backing vocals for singers such as Sugar Minott, Tony Tuff, and Freddie McGregor. He also built his own Star Creation studio.

FOUNDATION SOUND It was the year 1985 when head founder Zebulon started to run a Sound System. After 8 years he parked the sound and started recording: “Manners” andChange Yuh Ways were released as a 7 inch. Missing the sound system vibes, Zebulon decided to return to the business in the year 2000 and re-named his sound: Foundation Sound. From 2000 till now, Zebulon has been busy building an unique dub-box and establishing an orignal style. Nowadays teaming up with Junior Gun & Montana, Foundation Sound is a force to be reckoned with. As a juggling sound Foundation has proven that their specific delivery will win over any crowd in any country and they’ve juggled alongside some of the true heavyweights in the business, David Rodigan (UK) L.P. International (US) Supersonic (DE) Soundquake (DE) SoundbwoysDestiny (DE) WildPitch (DE) City Lock (DE) Chinese Assassin (US) King Turbo (CAN) to name a little few...
Their style can be characterized as ‘energetic with quality’. Drawing big tunes and dubs from past, present and future, Foundation Sound will set any dancehall on fire ! Foundation’s clash record is even more impressive. In 2006 they took part in the “War Inna East” soundclash, where they reached the dub fi dub. Far West Crew (BE) took the trophy that year. The other participants were Rainbow Warrior (DE) and City Lock (DE). In 2008 Foundation was back with a vengeance and took the “War Inna East” trophy ! They prevailed over the likes of Soldia Sound (SUI) and Soundbwoys Destiny (DE).
In December 2010 Foundation wrote soundclash history by winning two clashes in one weekend ! Friday the third of December they beat Gunz N Rozez (CAN) and Sensi Movement (DE) and took the “Global Shoot Out” cup. The very next day Foundation was up against Trinity Sound (SWE) in the “Skip Dem Out” clash and again took the trophy ! The winning streak continued when only two months later Foundation AGAIN was victorious and finished first place in the first edition of “Time 2 Shine” clash. Other participants were: Guiding Star (FR), Warrior Sound (DE), Fury Bass (FR), Reggae Bash (DE) and Ivory Sound (BE).

RoundBeat HiFi Dj Steely aka "The Chuner" is resident Ska/ReggaeDj for Poppodium Club VERA (Groningen, NL.) where in 1997 he founded a Dj-Collective called "Dub Inferno Sound" that gave some men (almost monthly) an opport-unity to Dj or 'chat pon the mike'. Dub Inferno has guest Dj's, played at 'Lowlands' and '2.7's Splash' (both NL.), with every Dutch Queensday 'SoundSystem' outdoors in front of the VERA Club.

This year 2011, Dj (Radical) Steely enjoys his 29th anniversary playing Jamaican Music for the public. At an early age in 1982, inspired by Madness, Selector and The Police he started playing Dub, Reggae & Ska with "The Swing-a-Ling Posse" in a coffeeshop and under the name "RoundBeat" at his homebase. Those days he found a lot of 'musical directions' by listening/learning Studio One Music and through the years he became a very extreme collector/selector of Dub, Ska and original Jamaican 'sought after' 45's (NO mp3). Always works with guest Dj's (Castaparia (Italia), Back-a-Wall, Slimmah Sound, FWD...) - (RastaPlas NL., ReggaeRuigoord NL., Reggae Sundance Festival, Eindhoven 2007) Through the years 'RoundBeat Sound' supported realy a lot of Reggae-artists : Ziggi Recado(2), Burning Spear(5), Sizzla, Bunny Wailer, The Slackers(4), Turbulence, The Itals, Ethiopian, The Heptones, Shinehead, The Ska-Talites(4), Marcia Griffiths ... Played 8times at the 'Dance Valley Festival' in the ChillOut-tent and Steely is the Reggae-stagemanager for the "The Gideon Festival" Groningen, NL. From 1982 on till now, he made hundreds of posters & flyers by hand, toured years with Dutch Ska band "Jammah Tammah" and won a Dj-contest in 1996. For over 13 years, Dj Steely has his own internet-radio show at www.nauticradio.net : 'Jamaican Style'. (under constr. again). Playing in the dance, RoundBeat HiFi will bring you more NuSkool-Reggae, JamaicanDance and U.K. Dub, but on the radio he will spin mostly Revival Music. Last year (2010) he produced a Reggae 'Mash-Up' album with 12 remix tracks. RoundBeat is building 'Sound System'(HiFi) which is ready now, so far, to play ROUNDBEAT MUZIK.

Tonight in Club VERA, Tristan Palmer will play 'pon sound', which means he will preform live an' direct (with the Foundation Sound Deejay-Crew)
