Psychedelic tropical noise
For over 20 years, Los Pirañas are on top of the game in the South-American Cumbia scene. They are known for their unique electronic Cumbia style, with African influences mixed in. On stage these guys will make sure you’re having a good time, but that’s more or less inevitable with their tropical and contagious music. Imagine a hallucinating encounter among Andres Landero´s dark cumbia, Konono´s distorted trance, Ceramic Dog´s sophisticated rawness, tropical afrobeat and an out of control computer. This is the Southamerican psychedelic sound of the 21st century: Los Pirañas!
Los Pirañas combine these styles with a rock attitude, noisy improvisations and absurd musical humor. Think of Captain Beefheart in an exotic mood. Completely crazy, but very danceable and enjoyable at the same time.
In 2017 they ended up second in the Vera Poll, so plenty of reason to watch this band perform live!
