Children 404 (Pavel Loparev & Askold Kurov, 2014) [English version below]

Teenage life is not always easy. It is especially hard for the gay youth of Russia. Ever since Putin passed his ‘anti-gay law’ in 2013 the young LGBT community is defenceless against insults and intimidation. Psychologists, teachers and even parents can be fined or imprisoned for supporting them. Children 404 offers an online platform through which these Russian tweens and teens can share their stories. Through anonymous interviews and video diaries, the film shows the humiliations and discrimination, as well as their courageous stands against bullies.

Kris van der Veen - municipal councillor for GroenLinks and director of '5000 Roebel', a documentary on the daily reality of young gay and lesbian Russians will speak and join the discussion after the movie.
