Yearly celebration of underground goodness
The annual Zomercafè spectacle by Subroutine x Lepel returns with a fresh batch of underground gems. Check the line-up:
Immen is the musical moniker of singer/songwriter Clasine Haringsma. On the recently released debut album ‘Nimmen’, she takes the listener on a mesmerizing journey through the seasons on the Frisian countryside – quietly observing and reflecting on her youth, daydreaming in the grass or with the farm animals. Despite singing about darker emotions, like injustice, loss and overwhelming feelings, Immen’s voice offers a warm and consoling embrace.
The Hobknobs are Yaël Dekker (The Klittens) and Arie van Vliet (Lewsberg), who have started working together after listening to each other’s music for years. They balance out their innate love for rules with a healthy disdain for authority. Their first cassette ‘Gather No Moss’ came out in Spring, and features three contrarian lofi duets. They recent performance at that one festival in the prettiest village of The Netherlands left no stone unturned. Restorations are in full swing.
chest press, the electronic punk/wave moniker of musician Sjoerd Nieuwkoop, makes the sort of music that you often hear as the background soundtrack of some black and white Brutalist architecture reels from some backwater in Central- and Eastern Europe. During all the years of playing guitars within numerous punk bands, this darker electronic side of his musical output always remained a bedroom outlet but finally was released on two EPs in the last years.
