VERA X SPOT PRESENT
Wednesday 12 NovemberAmenraBEL
Ritualistic extreme metal
The Belgian band AMENRA is as experimental and atmospheric as it is impossibly heavy. Emerging in the early 2000s, the extreme metal band crafted a versatile sound rooted in doom, sludge, post-metal, and hardcore punk. Their debut ‘Mass I’ was released in 2003, and since then, the group has continuously pushed the boundaries of extreme metal with acclaimed albums like Mass V (2012) and De Doorn (2021).
Their latest album De Doorn originated from two intense fire rituals in Ghent and Menen. Sculptures, mourning, audience, and fire formed the basis, and that charged atmosphere is palpable in the music. With acoustic elements, ample space for silence, and featuring Caro Tanghe (Oathbreaker) in a prominent role, Amenra sounds more layered than ever. De Doorn is not a Mass, but a different kind of monument.
This concert is a collaboration between SPOT and VERA, tickets are available via the SPOT website.
The concert will take place in the Grote Zaal of de Oosterpoort!
