ALFREDxJODOCUSxKWAKGRN
Gesnavelde jeugdheld meets powerviolence
I would be lying if I said that as a child I understood the overarching story of Alfred J. Kwak and the topics addressed in the series very clearly. The original broadcasts were long before my own childhood, so I didn’t catch much more than a rare rerun. Still, that amazing opening theme has always stuck with me. Thanks, Herman.
Now that I am a bit older and have free will, I can fortunately just watch the entire series on YouTube! I am currently on episode 6, because following a conversation with fellow Vera regulars about powerviolence music and children’s tv series (thanks AARTxSTAARTJES for this amazing fusion), I felt quite inspired to see how a cartoon from 1989 can still be so relevant and how cool it would be to put some heavy punk music under it.
Et voilà! Less than a month later, ALFREDxJODOCUSxKWAK has been formed and they are playing their own show in the Kelderbar! The band consists of members of Schizm and Maulkorb and is coming to give everyone a reminder on this sweltering (I’m manifesting it, sorry) August evening of just how punk a duck can be.
So dipping, bobbing, diving, let’s have a good time in the Basement! You can go home already, I’ll be a beer later | Levi
