I absolutely don’t get wet dreams about war machines. In fact, lately I’ve been having nightmares about bombs and grenades more often than before. What I do get wet dreams about is good music. And damn, Wet Dream War Machine knows how to deliver that. With creaking, squealing guitars, tight drums, and abstract screams. Hardcore the way hardcore is meant to be. Their latest EP, I.M.A.G.I.N.E., leaves little to the imagination. It shifts from crushingly hard to sludge to noise. These Germans definitely know their stuff. And if the thought of this band turning the basement upside down already gives you sweaty sheets, here’s a little extra news: the support act is none other than Rotterdam’s finest: MUG. Not strangers anymore at VERA, but for those who haven’t witnessed them live yet, come early! If there’s ever been a Dutch band that perfectly captures the ultimate basement-show vibe, it’s MUG.
