Kin bestaat uit een dame, oorspronkelijk uit Manchester, maar woont tegenwoordig in Groningen. Om deze reden heeft ze samen met het complete The Swains een nieuwe band bij elkaar verzameld. Haar muziek zit ergens tussen de abstracte, atmosferische pop van Radiohead en de verwondering van Björk. Zelf omschrijft ze het als volgt: "Kin (UK) uses jagged landscapes built with staccato time signatures, guitars, electronica and a massive set of lungs that deliver goosebumps - loudly. The music (as showcased by the debut album 'Flickering' is occasionally creepy and the performance is intense. But this is not goth-rock. It's more like hearing the abandoned love-child of Bjork and Radiohead trying to build a mountain."
