Lean Left delivers an explosive mix of rock, jazz, noise, and free improvisation, performed by four international top musicians: Chicago saxophonist Ken Vandermark, Norwegian drummer Paal Nilssen-Love, and the confrontational guitarists from The Ex, who push everything to the limit. The quartet shifts effortlessly between cacophonous energy and hypnotic grooves, always sharp, adventurous, and full of onstage power. Expect an extroverted, captivating, and sometimes challenging live show in which rhythm, noise, melody, and harmony merge into one fiery musical storm. As Stewart Lee put it: “Jazz theories be damned – it feels like being 18 again.”

As support, Frisian-language punk legends It Dockumer Lokaeltsje join the lineup. It had to be different. It had to be short. It had to be Frisian. In the late ’80s, the trio forged a reputation with brief, chaotic bursts of punk, captured on releases like Tonger and Wil Met U Neuken. In 1987 they released Moddergat, but soon after the band split up. After years of silence, they have reunited and continue exactly where they left off.
