Lucas Hamming was born and raised in Blaricum in North Holland. During his high school years he played in various bands, including the Huizer formation New Option. Hamming was given the role of Sem in the Dutch youth film Lover of loser in 2009 through an audition. Together with Martijn Lakemeier he sings the single Eva, written by Acda and De Munnik, with whom Hamming also performed this song several times in the theater. The single achieved gold status in 2010.

He also performed as stage guitarist and backing vocalist for the Hilversum band Only Seven Left. After obtaining his HAVO diploma at the SG Huizermaat in Huizen in 2011, he was admitted to the pop department of the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he graduated in 2015.

Hamming was a finalist in the second edition of the television talent show The best singer-songwriter in the Netherlands. On January 16, 2013, he presented his debut EP Green Eyed Man in the small hall of Paradiso. In March 2014, he released his debut single Fake Love Hypocrisy. In August 2014, Hamming was named 3FM Serious Talent. At the same time, his single Mojo Mischief was declared a 3FM Megahit. Hammings second EP, entitled The Perv in Perfection, was released on March 6, 2015 on the PIAS Holland label. That same day, Hamming was a guest at De Wereld Draait Door with his band. His management is provided by Phil Tilli, known as the former guitarist of the band Moke.

From 2013, Hamming made several tours through the Netherlands, supported by his regular band, consisting of Kas Lambers (guitar), Stijn van Rijsbergen (drums) and Thomas Veenstra (bass guitar). In August 2015, Jelte de Vries also joined, as keyboardist, guitarist and backing vocalist. In August 2015, Hamming released his new single Never Let You Down. This single also became a 3FM Megahit. His debut album HAM was released in October 2015. In 2016 he recorded the anthem for 3FM Serious Request, “Are You with Me”. His second album Luck Is for Suckers was released on March 17, 2017. In 2018, Hamming made his debut as a musical actor in the musical All Stars. In it, he played the role of Johnny. In 2019 Hamming played the role of Judas Iscariot during the performance of The Passion in Dordrecht, broadcast by the EO and KRO-NCRV. In addition, Hamming took part in the fifth season of the Maestro conducting competition on AVROTROS television. He was chosen the winner in the final against Monic Hendrickx by the jury, the orchestra and the audience.
