Meatbodies is a creation straight from the mind of west-coast garagerocker Chad Ubovich, a well known face within the Californian garage punk and neopsychedelic scene. Over the course of the decade, the Los Angeles native could be seen peeling off guitar solos in Mikal Cronin’s backing band, supplying the Sabbath-sized low end for Ty Segall and Charlie Moothart as the bassist for Fuzz, and, of course, fronting his own Meatbodies.

The band’s guitar-driven sound packs the punch of punk, combined with fuzzy riffs and earwurmy melodies. Last March Meatbodies released their fourth album, ‘Flora Ocean Tiger Bloom’, which had been in the works since 2017. It tells the story of Ubovich’s trials and tribulations with drugs, getting sober, and how he had to reinvent himself after a near-fatal hospitalization. Meatbodies will hit the road again during the fall of 2024, stopping by at VERA in September!

Support Carrion Kids is unbridled and irreverent punk rock from Mexico City. Their sound is inspired by influences such as DEVO, The Stooges and The Dead Kennedys. Shrill, screeching and abrasive guitars, violent, dark and twisted riffs, aggressive screams that communicate lyrics full of irony, sarcasm, stories of confusion, madness and bad taste. To experience them live is to dance, move, shout, sweat and let lose.
