Ben Vince
British saxophonist Ben Vince has performed in Vera before with his former band, the experimental post-punk quartet Housewives, but returns as a solo artist and ups the experiment even further. He does live-looping improvisations on saxophone, creating a collage of melodies, textures and rhythms, twisted and pitched. It places him in a lineage with experimental composers and improvisers like Terry Riley, Jon Hassell and at times even Arthur Russell, all them sounding both earthy and deeply psychedelic. But beware, this is music is not only for the brain but also for the body. Or as Pitchfork puts it: “…where the origins of (free) jazz, early experimental composition, and leftfield club music all cook down together”.

Ben Vince has collaborated with artists across the musical spectrum including Mica Levi, Joy Orbison, Valentina Magaletti, Moin, Rat Heart and Charles Hayward. But come check out him out on his own merits during this special solo performance.

Ameel Brecht
Next to being one of the core members of the deep listening ensemble Razen, Ameel Brecht is a trained guitar player who has a life-long involvement with the instrument’s repertoire under his belt. Working mainly with mandoline, Ameel’s guitar idiom crossbreeds a classical technique and weird open tunings with a love for early ragtime, slide grandmasters and baroque music. But also Denis D’amour, guitarist of sci-fi thrash metal band Voivod, is one of his heroes.

The last two years he has been working on a series of releases where he explores the theme of sleep and dreaming. It pushes his music into ambient and tranquil surrealist territories with a melancholic and quietly cinematic quality. The most recent installment in the series, Wilderness, came out in December 2025 and features guest musicians on clarinet and hammond organ.
