Angular punk and DIY postpunk
Real Farmer is a eccentric (post)punk four-piece from Groningen and Den Haag. Their name is a nod to the childhood of their singer, who grew up in the Groninger countryside. What started as a group of friends who wrote some punk songs together one afternoon evolved into a close-knit band. As active members of the vibrant local scene with their infectious punk noise, Real Farmer brings DIY post-punk with a straightforward attitude. They dream big and pour everything onto the stage, harboring no expectations for the future.
On their debut album Compare What’s There, you’ll find angular punk tracks interspersed with melancholic post-punk, at times powerful and energetic, at other times subtle and ominous. Each song possesses its own character, evoking nostalgic feelings for a bygone era while also reflecting the time and place of their origin. The lyrics explore themes such as loneliness, heartbreak, and finding one’s place in the world, conveyed with complete dedication.
Support M.J.H. Thompson Volksorkest plays eclectic music with genres ranging from pop to rock and from country to techno. The name might lead you astray, as the orchestra consists of only 5 people: M.J.H. Thompson (aka Mr. Minimal), Sjoerd Fransman (aka Cors Katwijk), King Kachang (aka Dr. Gazebo), Mowi (aka Milo), and Lotti (aka Horror Jazz).
