Romperayo, led by Pedro Ojeda, blends Colombian tropical music with electronics, psychedelia, samples, and avant-garde influences. With Juan Manuel Toro on samplers and synthesizers, Nicolás Eckardt on bass, and Iván Medellín on accordion, the band creates a delightfully unhinged, highly danceable sound that balances between musical madness and brilliance.

The group emerged from Colombia’s new music scene, where traditional rhythms and melodies are reimagined in a contemporary blend of seventies psychedelia, experimentation, and humor. Other acts from this scene include Meridian Brothers, Frente Cumbiero, and Los Pirañas. Pedro Ojeda, Romperayo’s drummer, is also the drummer of Los Pirañas.

With a fascination for old sound archives and underground aesthetics, Romperayo has released ten vinyl albums on renowned labels within the international underground scene. The band has previously performed with great success at festivals such as Roskilde Festival, Best Kept Secret, Welcome To The Village, and Oerol. After two years, they are now returning to VERA!
