Founded in 2006 in Tinzawatene, Tamikrest fuse desert blues and psychedelic rock into a powerful, poetic whole. Their music carries you deep into the heart of the Sahara, where the Kel Tamasheq people fight for survival and the echo of lost freedom drifts across the endless landscape.

Their breakthrough album Chatma (2013) earned them a Songlines Award and firmly rooted them in the tradition of Ishumar rock. With follow-up records like Kidal and Tamotait, the band proved itself a boundary-pushing force within the African rock scene.
