Some bands quietly disappear from the radar, only to resurface years later. The Horse Company is one of them. Between 2007 and 2012, the band from Zwolle released three distinctive indie rock albums, earning themselves a small but devoted following. After the dark and brooding Calypso (2012), things went quiet for fourteen years.

The Horse Company make indie rock with equal room for melancholy and melody. Layered guitars, warm vocal harmonies and influences ranging from American roots rock to alternative rock shape a sound that moves between intimate, understated moments and songs that gradually build in intensity.

In 2024, the band unexpectedly returned to the stage. Their reunion eventually led to ever, their fourth album, recorded in Sweden. Its completion was overshadowed by the sudden passing of former bassist Arjan Pronk. On ever, The Horse Company’s familiar undercurrent of tension remains, while making room for new stories. A welcome return from one of the Dutch indie scene’s lesser-known gems.
