Atmospheric sludge and post-metal band The Ocean make music that’s progressive to the core. Over the years, the Berlin-based group has gone through plenty of line-up changes and is also known as The Ocean Collective: a shifting cast of musicians, with a number of familiar faces returning along the way.

With new album Solaris, the band once again takes a different turn. Four new members bring fresh energy to The Ocean, while cosmic escapism runs as a thread throughout the record. The result is rawer and more aggressive, but still unmistakably The Ocean: crushing sludge, progressive structures and cinematic layers.
