Roze Zaterdag (Pink Saturday) is the oldest pride of the Netherlands. Every year another Dutch city has the honour of organising this day, and this year it’s Groningen’s turn!

On Saturday June 22nd the entire city centre will turn pink, with different events happening throughout the city. The main stage will be on the Grote Markt, with different artists hitting the stage throughout the day. But that’s not it! VERA has joined in as well, joining the party with shows on our Main- and Downstage. On Friday night a special edition of Queerclub Kelder has the honour of kicking off the programme.

You’ll receive a wristband in VERA so you can get in & out if you want to check out the Grote Markt programm in between the VERA acts.

20:30 Droom Dit (NL)
Sex, violence, love and the tediousness of life. Droom Dit cuts into these topics with their poetic lyrics, accompanied by raw electronic beats, dreamy guitarriffs and sharp synths. Like a love, slowly ebbing away, the deadliness of loneliness or the hunger for some peace of mind. Last January the band played Noorderslag, leaving behind a trail of raving reviews. As the cherry on top, 3voor12 ‘crowned’ the band as the winner of Noorderslag. Droom Dit’s stagepresence, and their music, invite the crowd to lose themselves, dance, scream and sing.

22:00 Yaro Mila (NL)
Yaro Mila is avant-garde pop, built for the youthfully nocturnal, featuring vocals that heighten the senses. Loud, rebellious, aggressive and at the same time sugary sweet hyperpop music. She fuses punk guitars riffs together with Berlin-beats and distorded synths to escape and create a hyper-tech, pixelated rainbow-world where we all can live in. In her musical candy store you can taste the unapologetic sweet flavours of Britney Spears, the sourness of Lady Gaga’s early work and Ashnikko’s and Dorian Elactra’s dirty and confusing aftertaste.  Yaro Mila presents the future music for the rebels of the new age.

23:00 Big Pleasure (NL) (Downstage)
Big Pleasure will be playing our Kelderbar. The Dutch indie-postpunk band was born in ’the queer centre of Amsterdam’ back in February 2019.

23:30 Lynks (UK)
The masked Lynks knows how to put on a performance. Their chaotic mix of pop, electro post-punk, with danceable beats and witty lyrics, explode into a extravagant, campy performance on stage, with the atmosphere full of sweat and confetti.
Last January Lynks was at ESNS as well, with raving reviews from 3voor12, describing the show as a gruesomely awesome. For fans of: Peaches and RuPaul’s Drag Race.
