Whenever a happy marriage of film and music materializes, we simply have to show it at Vera Zienema, and Pavements is a great example of that.

In the documentary, we follow the 90s alternative rock band Pavement on a reunion tour, but we are also treated to many different layers of fiction: the so-called making of a big-budget Hollywood biopic about the band; the production of a Broadway musical featuring adaptations of Pavement’s songs; and the creation of an exhibition of important artefacts from the band’s history.

Anyone who loves their music, or feels nostalgic for the down-to-earth irony of the 90s zeitgeist, should definitely not miss this one. But even for those who aren’t (very) familiar with the band, this evening has plenty to offer: Pavements is an experimental and totally original biopic, highly recommended for film enthusiasts who just want to try something completely new. -Caroline
