Unfortunately, Unwound’s fall tour was canceled — see the event on our site — but since Chris Brokaw is touring anyway, we’re letting his show go on as planned, solo, in the basement bar.

This nineties legend, who nearly won the Vera Poll with Codeine in the early ’90s and later treated us to several beautiful shows with Come, will be playing Downstage this Monday evening.

That first Come show (in 1996) was only my sixth-ever concert at VERA, and it made a big impression on this then-fresh Vera member. From that same wonderful year, my concert list also includes The Jesus Lizard, Shellac, Wipers, Melvins, and Girls Against Boys. Not bad!

I already wrote a tribute to Chris Brokaw back in 2018 — you can read it here. The only thing that’s changed since then is that the list of his collaborations has grown even longer. Come still exists, too.

Come on time for this hero! Long live the ’90s!
