ESNS is the European music platform. It is the only event in the world that focuses solely on European music and is based in Groningen. VERA is hosting a three nights program full of new talented artists.
20:45 Molly (AUT)
"Skeletal, celestial shoegaze (that) reflects the cold beauty of the Austrian Alps," Stereogum judged. MOLLY hail from Innsbruck and mix different and unlikely inspirations, yet still strike a nerve every time; from the uplifting, feedback drenched Sun Sun Sun and blissed out ambience found on Kids On LSD, to the dream pop ballad As Years Go By and the post-rock and dark wave sounds on Glimpse.
22:15 Manon Meurt (CZE)
Sparkling songs formed by soft and transcendent vocals, hypnotic bass lines, looming drums and reverb-drenched guitars with bursts of distortion are a trademark of this young quartet from the Czech Republic. They deal in addictive shoe-gaze dream pop and noisy rock and their live gigs and stage presence are so tight, you get the feeling they live on stage.
23:45 Black Midi (UK)
After a mere 12 months of existence, and with only one single out, Black Midi have already generated a huge amount of hype. Live shows by the Londoners have become a revered and highly sought after spectacle, while the band remains mysterious with very little social media output. Their updated take on math rock and post-punk is instantly mesmerising, unpredictable and complex, yet it remains dark and raw.
01:15 Le Villejeuf Underground (FR)
Le Villejuif Underground is a collaboration of Australian Nathan Roche and three disturbed Frenchmen from Villejuif in the southern suburb of Paris. After a year of playing virtually every stinking bar, bistro and venue in Paris they released their debut LP on SDZ Records. Their unpredictable brand of garage, pop, country and disco has drawn comparisons, inspired by lazy journalism, to bands which no one in the group feels connected to. Every record might be different and every day is the same.
