Statement van de band:

“We are very sad to inform you that we won’t be able to play in Groningen on March 9th and in Utrecht on March 10th. I have been struggling with what seems to be post-COVID for a few months now. Post-COVID comes in many forms. For me it mainly means that I have about 20% of the daily energy that I am used to. Till recently I was optimistic that I would have recovered in time to play these shows. Yet here I am facing the truth that there’s no sign of recovery yet, let alone in time for these shows next week. I hope we could’ve avoided this decision, but I truly have not even a choice. No chance I can play these shows. These dates are being postponed till October 29th for Utrecht and 30th for Groningen. Tickets already bought are still valid. In the meantime, I hope to recover in time for our shows in May and June. Thanks for your understanding and I hope to see you soon again!”

Rotterdam based band GGGOLDDD has always been defiant and resilient, and perhaps a bit stubborn as well. Though that’s not all, because above all GGGOLDDD is heavy, both in terms of their sound, as the subjects they sing about.

This Shame Should Not Be Mine is the song GGGOLDDD brought to Roadburn Redux. When she was 19 years old, Milena became a victim to sexual abuse, and in this song she put all the emotions around the trauma in her lyrics and vocals. She urges that she is the victim and that it is not her place to feel ashamed, that it’s the perpetrator who should be ashamed. What started off as a single song bloomed into a full record in which the heavy and aggressive sound goes hand in hand with haunting, piercing vocals and soft melodies. It highlights the pain and agony, as well as the triumph, of the female experience, according to Milena.

Support of tonight will be Otay:onii, who’s also known as Lane Shi or as the lead vocalist and keyboardist of punk spit band Elizabeth Colour Wheel. Otay:onii is a multifaceted artist originally from Haining, China, currently based in New York.

She believes in echoes, and the potential of “solving a puzzle with another puzzle that can’t be seen, be touched, but to feel.”
